Biographical Note

Agnes Eleanor Hinkle was born September 4, 1914 in Columbus, Ohio to Albert H. and Jessie M. (Cowgill) Hinkle. The family moved to Indianapolis and she graduated from Shortridge High School in 1932. She attended Butler University and then received her bachelors degree in journalism from Indiana University in 1936. Hinkle also earned a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1941. She worked as the society editor for the Indianapolis Times and the Cincinnati Times-Star before joining the Cincinnati Enquirer in 1969. Hinkle retired in 1980. She married Henry Felix Ostrom in 1937 and they later divorced. She married Francis Adams in 1956 and this marriage also ended in divorce. She was the mother of one daughter, Cynthia Anne Ostrom. Agnes E. Hinkle Ostrom died at the age of 87 on July 18, 2002.
