Scope and Contents
This collection contains typed transcripts and newspaper clippings from "Over My Shoulder", a column written by Louise Embree for the Princeton Publishing Company, publisher of the Princeton Clarion-News and Princeton Daily Democrat newspapers. Featured in the newspapers from September 29, 1945 to August 13, 1946, the articles chronicled the people, social customs, civic achievements and historical happenings of Princeton, Indiana from 1813 to 1945.
The collection also includes photocopies of Joseph Keith and Nora Kifer: A Story of a Mysterious Disappearance and a Most Revolting Murder, a book written by C. Stanley Garrison and published by the Princeton Publishing Company in 1901; typed copies of articles from the Princeton newspapers by various authors (1920 to circa 1950s); the January 19, 1946 commemorative edition of the Princeton Clarion newspaper regarding the Princeton General Hospital; and pages from the February 9, 1946 edition of the Clarion about the history of the old hospital and the opening of the new hospital the following day.

Biographical Note
Louise Embree was born on April 26, 1887 in Princeton, Indiana to Lucius C. and Luella Embree. A 1911 graduate of Indiana University, Embree wrote for McCall's magazine and worked for the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency. She was a historian and wrote articles for newspapers and wrote the children's book entitled, A Child's Life of George Washington. Embree died at the age of 85 on December 17, 1972.
