Historical Note
The War of 1812 began over the maritime rights of the United States as a neutral country between the conflict of France and Great Britain. Great Britain refused to repeal their blockade to allow America's access to trade with France. As a result the U.S. declared war on Great Britain in 1812, and in 1815 both countries agreed to go back to pre-war conditions.
