Historical Note

"The Story of Turkey Run" was written by Miss Vida Newsom, President of the Indiana Federation of Clubs (1913-1915), upon the request of the Editor of "Topics," a magazine published in Indianapolis at the time. The article tells how the Indiana Federation of Clubs was appointed to find out what could be done to preserve the natural beauty of Indiana with the help of the state leading to the making of Turkey Run. "The Story of an Indiana Pioneer Village-Spring Mill" was read before the Indiana Federation of Art Clubs around 1930. Other documents in the collection give historical and financial information on other state parks.
