Scope and Contents
This collection includes the following items related to Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana: a "A Plucky Woman" advertisement booklet for Piso's cure for consumption from the Brown and Son store and an advertisement card for D.W. Rountree and six other businesses with the song, "Grandmother's Chair," printed on the back from circa 1885; an absent slip from the city schools for Gussie Wray dated February 5, 1889; and an undated advertisement card for F.W. Shigley Livery, Feed and Sale Stable with an image of a woman in a bonnet on the back and the name of Roosevelt printed at the bottom.
The collection also includes typewritten copies of the following: "History of Alamo, Indiana: Ripley Township, Montgomery County," written by Martha Truax in 1926, with additional notes added by Belle Truax in 1959; "Alamo Tattlings," a column printed in the August 19, 1869 Crawfordsville Journal; "Some Men of Alamo and Vicinity," and "Memories of Old Houses," articles printed in the Crawfordsville Journal and Review in March 1932 and written by Mark Truax, an early resident of Alamo, Indiana; and "Story of Waynetown, Its Heirlooms," an address given by Anna Kruger before the Pi Mu Research Club on February 19, 1947. Two newspaper clippings from 1946 about Anna Kruger and Waynetown, Indiana are included as well.

Historical Note
Montgomery County, Indiana was established in 1822 and named for Richard Montgomery, an America Revolutionary War general. Crawfordsville, the county seat, was platted in March 1823. The county has ten other cities and towns, including Alamo and Waynetown. Alamo is located in Ripley Township and was platted in 1837. Waynetown is in Wayne Township and was platted in 1830.
