Biographical Note

Reverend Joseph Gilfred Butler was born on April 21, 1888 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, but moved to Indiana in 1910 where he lived until his death. He was a minister at the Baptist Christian Church in Royal Center, Indiana. Butler married his wife Gladys Gillespie (1893-1982) in 1916 and they had two sons, Harry Gilfred (1916-1989) and John. He died on May 27 1965 in Indianapolis, Indiana due to congestive heart failure and is buried in New Crown Cemetery and Mausoleum in Indianapolis.
