Scope and Contents

There are two folders in the collection. The first contains mostly letters from John C. Hill. The correspondence took place from 1862-1867. The second folder contains letters from H. O. Whiting to James M. Whiting though the content of the letters addresses family members including his mother. From these letters, it may be assumed that James M. Whiting is H. O. Whitings father.

Biographical Note

H. O. Whiting was an educator who worked in the United States as well as the Philippines. He was a superintendent in manila. He had a wife named Melissa. No biographical information is known about James M. Whiting, James Hardy, John C. Hill or William H. Sharp.
