Scope and Contents
This collection contains correspondence sent by the John H. Hanger family to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pritchard of Amo, Hendricks County, Indiana, including an invitation to the June 27, 1952 wedding of Beverly Ann Hanger and J. Trall Heitzenrater and year-end greeting cards from 1955 and 1957. The greeting cards share family happenings for the year written in verse by Rev. Hanger.

Biographical Note
Reverend John Howard Hanger was born June 18, 1907 in Brooksburg, Indiana to Rev. John W. and Lillian (Jones) Hanger. He graduated from DePauw University and received his B.D. degree from Garrett Theological Seminary. He began his ministry work in 1926 in Hendricks County, Indiana, serving in Belleville, Cherry Grove, and the Salem circuit. He moved to Florida in 1932 and held pastorates in Methodist Churches in the following cities: Miami, Winter Park, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, and Coral Gables. He was a member of the Florida Methodist Conference for 32 years and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Florida Southern College. He married Florence Genevieve Fisher on June 14, 1928 and they had four children. He died at the age of 57 on April 11, 1965.
