Administrative History
Fischer Pianos was started in 1840 by John U. and Charles S. Fischer and was named the J. and C. Fischer Piano Company in New York City. By 1896, they had produced their 100,000th piano, having manufactured 5,000 a year. They made both grands and uprights, which were notable both for the sound and the beautiful cases. By the Great Depression, the company had been sold to Aolian-American Corporation. The company has since been sold to other companies, resulting in the Fischer name being produced for over 175 years. Frank Lloyd Wright designed an acoustically correct room for this piano in 1928.
