This collection includes papers, correspondence, newspaper clippings, advertisements, notes, cards, recipes, account book, diaries, postcards, photographs, and ribbons relating to Josephine Brown Stayman and her father Chalmers Brown, principally in Indianapolis, Marion County, indiana ranging from 1840 to 1967 regarding Indiana politics, civic societies and issues, and day to day events (diaries).

Josephine Brown Stayman was born in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana on February 18, 1873. Her father, Chalmers Brown (1848-1928), was president of the Reserve Loan Life Insurance Company. Josephine Stayman married Guy L. Stayman. Stayman died February 5, 1969, and was buried at Crown Hill Cemetery.
