This collection includes three items: a page from an account book containing debit entries from October 12, 1840 to March 30, 1841 of Samuel and Solomon Dixson with Thomas Lemon and M. C. Hartley; an unfolded paper used as an envelope bearing the address "Mr. William Dixon, Fairplay P.O., Green County, Indiana" and sent by W.A. Gorman (undated); and a swatch of blue checked gingham.

Biographical / Historical
The Dixson (also spelled Dixon) brothers, Samuel (1767-1820), Eli (1769-1836), and Solomon (1771-1824), were early pioneers of Greene County, Indiana. Eli and his wife, Rebecca (1779-1851) moved to Greene County in 1818 and were the parents of eight sons and three daughters: Samuel (1800-1844), Sarah, Solomon (1803-1851), Elizabeth, Rebecca, Eli, Stephen, John, Phineas, William (1822-1870) and Prior.
