Biographical Note
Rengo Kumatsu arrived in the United States from Japan on December 28, 1911. Originally training to be a Buddhist priest, he was converted to Christianity by Friends missionaries and came to America to study at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. Following three and a half years at the university, he traveled to the eastern part of the country and spent time in Indiana before returning to Japan in July 1915.
