Scope and Contents
This collection includes the two-page typed speech which Nikki Stoddard Schofield gave at three venues of Oasis and the Summer 2017 catalog for Oasis Lifelong Adventure, Indianapolis, sponsored by Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers. On page 27 of the catalog, Nikki's picture in Civil War costume appears above the description of her program entitled: "Civil War -- Romance in a Country Torn Apart." She spoke on June 15 at the Broad Ripple venue, on June 21 at the Speedway location, and July 12 at the Washington Park Center. Ms. Stoddard Schofield spoke about writing historical fiction and read excerpts from each of her six novels. Her books are: "Bondage and Freedom" about guerrilla warfare in East Tennessee; "Alas, Richmond" about the fall of Richmond; "Treason Afoot" about the Indianapolis treason trials; "Savannah Bound" about an escaped prisoner and an English woman in Savannah; "Confederates in Canada" about spies; and "Washington City Citadel" about medical care in Washington.

Biographical Note
Nikki Stoddard Schofield, who spoke at three venues of Oasis in the summer of 2017, began writing historical fiction in 2010 while working as a law librarian. She continued writing Civil War novels upon her retirement, producing an average of one book each year. Her father Maynard Good Stoddard served for many years as Associate Editor of the Saturday Evening Post. Her oldest son, Robert Burton Schofield, publishes science fiction books.
