Biographical Note

Maude Stines Crockett moved to Brightwood with her family soon after it was platted in 1872. She attended School No. 51 (at the time of her attendance, it was known as School No. 12). Her memoir includes details of the various residents of the new Brightwood neighborhood, her school and classmates, and life in Indianapolis at the end of the 19th century.
