Biographical Note

William Sickels was born at Troy, New York on August 20, 1795 to Thomas Sickels, a Revolutionary War major. He graduated from the Jefferson College in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania in 1824 and the Princeton Theological Seminary in 1828. After moving to Indianapolis, he married Alma Cleopatra Coe on June 17, 1829; they had seven children, three of whom died in infancy. He was a minister who served in Indianapolis, Connersville, Rushville, Franklin, and in Jefferson County and elsewhere. He died in Indianapolis on August 9, 1864.
