Biographical Note

John Shaver enlisted as a private around February 14, 1781, in Virginia, serving under Capt. Reuben Field, Col. Thomas Gaskins' Regiment in the Army of the Revolution, until September 1783. He moved to Switzerland County, Indiana thereafter. His pension claim lists a wife and three children. "Shaver, John". (1938). Biographical Note

Samuel Alley, born June 25, 1761 in Henrico County, Virginia, also served as a private in the Revolutionary War. He married Mary Osborne in 1786 and they had 11 children. He wrote a publication, Christian Counsel, or, Error Reproved, published in 1846. He died on August 12, 1847 in Shelby County, Indiana. "Alley, Samuel".
