Administrative History
The Zig Zag Cycle Club was a social cycling club in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1890 to 1896. The original club meeting was held at the Hay and Willits Bicycle Shop located on Washington Street opposite the Indiana Statehouse with roughly a dozen members present. The club, which was a member of the League of American Wheelman, promoted bicycle outings and races, provided social activities for cyclists, and lobbied on behalf of better roads. At the club’s height, the Zig Zag Cycle Club had nearly 200 members, but popularity quickly dwindled and the club disbanded in 1896.
