Biographical Note
Nathaniel Paige lived in New London, Oneida County, New York and was the brother of Joshua Paige, an early pioneer of Indiana. Joshua was most likely the Joshua "Page" who lived in Stafford Township, Greene County, Indiana. Benjamin Stafford, Jr., also an early pioneer of the Hoosier state, arrived in Greene County (originally part of Sullivan County) in 1818 and the county township of Stafford is named for his family. Nancy A.(Page) Davis, possibly Joshua's daughter, married Benjamin Stafford, Jr. in 1846 and they had eight children, including Noah (1851-1938). Noah was a lifelong resident of Greene County and was the donor of this collection.
