Historical Note
Carroll County, Indiana was established in 1828 and named for Charles Carroll, the last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence. French traders had first visited the area around 1670 and the first permanent settlers arrived in 1824. Delphi is the county seat and the only community designated a city in Carroll County.
