Scope and Contents

This collection includes originals and copies of letters, account books, diaries, journals, accounts of life in prison, military records, minutes of organizations, regimental histories, reminiscences and memoirs, sermons, and speeches and printed documents such as commencement programs, business and industrial catalogs, broadsides, maps and pamphlets from citizens in Indiana ranging from 1772 to 1967, undated regarding personal and civic life and business activities. Also included are oversize photographs and postcards from the celebration, circa 1967 (B015).

Administrative History

The Indiana Sesquicentennial Manuscript Project was conducted and administered by the Indiana State Library in cooperation with the Indiana Sesquicentennial Commission. Cooperating libraries included the Indiana State Library; the Ball State University, Indiana University, Indiana State University, University of Notre Dame and Purdue University Libraries; the Fort Wayne and Indianapolis Public Libraries; and the Indiana Historical Society Library.

Some 60,000 pages of manuscript materials were collected from March 1, 1966 through April 30, 1967 and included personal papers and manuscripts and privately printed documents. Guide to the collection parts I and II were printed in the Indiana Magazine of History, Volume XlIV, June and September, 1968.
