This collection includes several letters sent in 1906 to Eugene L. Teal of Anderson, Indiana from Joseph McGee of Kamloops, British Columbia regarding a gold and copper mining; a September 1906 letter from H. Clay Read of Big Springs, Texas asking for particulars about a gold and copper mine; a February 10, 1906 legal document transfering Hampton E. Jackson's patent for improvements to plunger valves to Teal for one dollar; an undated advertisement for the Jackson "Universal Plunger" by the Universal Plunger Valve Mfg. Co. of Anderson; a February 5, 1907 letter received by Teal from J. E. Osborne of Decatur, Illinois regarding a coal mine in Mexico; and undated handwritten notes and two unused "Transfer of Patent Right" documents.

Biographical note

Eugene Loren Teal was born in 1846 in Doddsville, Wisconsin, the son of Abraham and Sarah Teal. He was a farmer and carpenter and moved to Anderson, Indiana around 1880. He married Nancy Katherine Ice in November 1883 and they had 5 children. He passed away at the age of 103 on January 30, 1950.
