Administrative History
The Social Service Advistory Committee had its first formal meeting on March 13, 1917. The organization was associated with the Social Service Department at Indiana University to provide social services to patients at the Indianapolis City Dispensory. The organization's stated purpose was to be a bridge "between the people and their problems as they appeared, sick and down and out in the dispensary, and the relief which awaited them." The organization dissolved in 1929.
