Biographical Note

Charles Warren Fairbanks (1852-1918) served as a U.S. senator for Indiana from 1897 to 1905. Originally from Ohio, Fairbanks moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1874, where he worked as a railroad financier before beginning his political career. From 1905 to 1909, the Republican politician held the position of vice president of the United States under President Theodore Roosevelt.
