Historical note
The Indiana State Chamber of Commerce was established in 1922 and reorganized in 1939 when it merged with the Inter-Organization Council. Clarence A. Jackson served as the reorganized Chamber’s first Executive Vice-President and held the position until 1952. The State Chamber soon became recognized as the “united voice for Indiana business” and continues today as the largest, broad-based advocacy group in the state, with full-time legislative experts working on behalf of Hoosiers in a number of areas, including tax and public finance, environment and energy, civil justice, and workplace safety.
