Administrative History
The Indiana Birth Control League was formed on March 4, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was affiliated with the American Birth Control League, Inc. The aims of the group were to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, decrease hereditary diseases, criminal abortions be prevented, and child labor be reduced. In 1934, the Indiana Birth Control League reorganized and became known as the Maternal Health League of Indiana. In 1942, the American Birth Control League became Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Indiana league became an affiliate of that federation.
