Historical Note
The account book in this collection is believed to be from the Gaar Nursery Company of Cambridge City, Indiana. The nursery was founded by William H. Garr in the 1880s and his son Milton H. Gaar owned and operated the business in the 1930s. Milton was a well known landscape architect and nurseryman in East Central Indiana and helped design gardens for an number of public and private buildings and institutions. The account book includes sales to individuals and companies located in Cambridge City, Connersville, Dublin, Dunkirk, Liberty, Marion, Muncie, Richmond, and Straughn.
