Biographical Note

John Wright Sr. was born to Mr. Amos Wright and Mrs. Elizabeth Lowe in Rowan County, North Carolina on 1785/12/12. Wright first married Peggy Wolfscale on 1803/01/05 in Wayne County, Kentucky, who died leaving one daughter Elizabeth. Wright later married Nancy Purlee on 1809/04/29 also in Wayne County, Kentucky, and had several more children. Wright was an evangelist and after the death of his wife Nancy on 1844/08/29, Wright descided to compose his biography, called The Life & Pilgrimage of John Wright, Sr. Wright died on 1851/05/02 in Chariton County, Missouri.
