Scope and Contents

This collection contains mostly financial documents including indentures, tax receipts and bills of the Wiley family ranging from 1845 to 1896. Also, included are personal papers, correspondence, and newspapers.

There is also 2 oversize publications in OB190: 1845 June Herald of Progression, June 1845 and The Cincinnati Enquirer, August 8, 1874.

Biographical Note

James Wiley was born about 1795 in Virginia and operated a farm in saw mill in Metamora, Franklin County, Indiana. James Wiley died in 1874.

Jerome James Wiley, so of James Wiley, was born in 1822 and worked with his father in Metamora. Jerome Wiley died in 1894.
