This collection includes a letter from D.W. Henry, a lawyer from Terre Haute, Indiana, to General and Mrs. Jesse M. Lee, residing in Manilla, Philippine Islands, regarding a book memorializing Colonel R. W. Thompson, dated December 22, 1906; a Chicago and South Eastern Railway Company letter dated October 29, 1895 from W.S. Parkhurst to railroad agents, regarding a September 14, 1892 tariff correction; a blank Defense Warden Application from the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a blank Certificate of Appointment as Defense Warden from the Fort Wayne Civilian Defense Director, and a blank letter to the families of those in the Armed Forces from the Fort Wayne Civilian Defense, and a list of Fort Wayne veterans who were wounded and/or discharged during the "European War" for use of counselors at the Fort Wayne Veterans Aid Commission Referral and Information Center; a press pass to the President John F. Kennedy rally in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 13, 1962; a J.W. Carpenter, Importer of Scotch Granite Monuments and Dealer in Foreign and Domestic Marble business card. Carpenter Brothers' business was located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Biographical Note
Ernest L. Whittington was born on September 19, 1914. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 21, 1941 at Fort Benjamin Harrison within the Warrant Officers branch. He married Glenna Marie Cottrell. Whittington died on February 8, 1987 and is buried at the New Bellsville Cemetery in Brown County, Indiana.
