This collection contains papers concerning Leslie E. Werry in Hartford City, Indiana ranging from 1919 to 1962, regarding his life and medical career. They include a three-page biography by Cecil Beeson, Jr. entitled "Our Doctor," as well as photocopies of a 1957 daily diary written by Leslie E. Werry, and an obituary for his wife, Clara Werry.

Biographical Note

Dr. Leslie E. Werry was born in 1883, married Clara G. Grossman in 1919, and had two sons, Leslie E., Jr., and Paul F. He served in the medical corps during World War I, and was a company doctor for a copper mine in Michigan. As a young doctor, he lived in Hartford City, Indiana where he practiced for 43 years before retiring in 1962. His church, Grace Methodist, honored him at a ceremony on April 29, 1962. His wife Clara died on April 10, 1970. Leslie E. Werry died 6 years later on September 25, 1976 in Harford City.
