This collection includes a copy of a biographical sketch from Peter Van Arsdale ranging from 1787-1857. Peter Van Arsdale wrote an autobiography of his life in order to provide for his family. He wrote about his early life with his father's death, working as a blacksmith until he was twenty-one, getting married and having children, as well as trying to find ways to provide a house and money in order to take care of his family.

Biographical Note
Peter Van Arsdale was born in Kentucky in 1787. He worked as a blacksmith, married Geertie Demaree in 1809 and died in Brighton, Illinois in 1857.
