This collection includes "The National Road across Wayne County" by Thomas B. Searight, 1894, 2 copies; a letter to Dr. Bernhard Knollenberg dated April 22, 1942, from the Library of Congress; maps of Whitewater Valley Country by Harry O. Garman, 1942; a note from Mr. Hill to Bernhardt dated August 6, 1942; an article entitled "Letter Written by Mr. Johann Wolfgang Schreyer" edited by Donald F. Carmony, pp. 283-306, Indiana Magazine of History, September 1944; a photostat of a map showing Whitewater River in section of Indiana; four photostats of card catalog entries for Richmond, Ind. -- Newspapers, 1822-1875; typed information about stage lines in 1832 and 1837; "Recollections of the Early Settlement of Carroll County, Indiana," by Dr. James Hervey Stewart, no date; a Henry J. Shombre biography; a newspaper clipping "Richmond, 1840-1943, William Haughton Became Teacher, Head of Academy," original and copy.

There is also a photostat copy of a 1796 map of the Northwest Territory of the United States (OBC117).

Biographical Note

Dr. Bernhard Knollenberg was the Librarian at the Yale University Library in New Haven, Connecticut in 1942. At that time, he was researching the Whitewater Valley in Indiana.
