Biographical Note

Robert Beaty [Baity] was born March 5, 1795 in Virginia to Andrew and Ann [Nancy?] Beaty, the oldest of several children, including John and James. Beaty married Elizabeth Cox on August 30, 1820 in Pulaski County, Kentucky; she died in 1857. They had 9 children: Eleanor (born 1844, died 1865), Nancy, William, Elisabeth, Polly, Barbary [Barbara], Floyd, Amanda, and Lucinda. Beaty was a shopkeeper, selling a wide variety of products in 1816 and 1817 and lived in Greene County, Indiana from at least 1824 though 1860. He was a justice of the peace in Greene County, appointed May 17, 1824. Beaty died May 5, 1862 and is buried in Ferguson Cemetery, Lawrence County, Indiana.
