Biographical Note
Robert Beaty (also spelled Baity) was born March 5, 1795 in Virginia to Andrew and Ann (Nancy?) Beaty, the oldest of several children, including John and James. Beaty married Elizabeth Cox on August 30, 1820 in Pulaski County, Kentucky and they had 9 children: Eleanor (born 1844, died 1865), Nancy, William, Elisabeth, Polly, Barbara, Floyd, Amanda, and Lucinda. Elizabeth Beaty died in 1857. Robert Beaty was a shopkeeper, selling a wide variety of products in 1816 and 1817 and lived in Greene County, Indiana from at least 1824 though 1860. He was a justice of the peace in Greene County, appointed May 17, 1824. Beaty died May 5, 1862 and is buried in Ferguson Cemetery, Lawrence County, Indiana.
