This collection includes photocopied letters and the will of William Townsend, a resident of Plainfield, Indiana. Some of the corespondents were: Esther Hollowell (William's sister); Rebecca Parker (William's sister); Daniel and Martha Ramsey (Martha was the daughter of William and Ann Townsend); William P. and Mary A. Outland; and Frederick Newby.

Biographical Note

William Townsend wrote his will in 1855. His son Josiah was listed as his executor. His other sons were Eli, Alpheus, Jesse, and Calvin. His two daughters were Elizabeth Ann Lotshan and Martha Ramsey. William lived in Plainfield, Indiana.
