Scope and Contents
This collection contains photocopies of land grants, indentures, deeds, and receipts of the Wilson and Guthrie families ranging from 1818 to 1919. Also included is a certificate of patent given to a Benjamin Boorman in 1867 for an improvement of the flour bolt; Dr. Robert I. Wilson's certificate appointing him a Postmaster in White County, IN (1847); Dr. Wilson's United States Internal Revenue license to practice medicine (1865); his Physician's License from 1885; and a letter regarding his application for a position on the Columbian Guard (1893).
The collection also contains photocopies of correspondence sent and received by members of the Wilson family ranging from 1839 to 1938 and the ancestral chart and application for membership to the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) by Mary Elizabeth Ferrier for her lineal descent from James Wilson.

Biographical Note
The Wilson and Guthrie family goes back many generations in America. James Wilson was born on July 13, 1743 at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He married Agnes Henderson (1746-1796) and they had 9 children. He died on June 8, 1799 in Ross Ccounty, Ohio. His son, John, was born on February, 18, 1779, he married Lucy Taylor (1782-1856), and they had 11 children.
Their son, Robert Imlay, born on December 5, 1815, married Jane Howlett (1821-1864), and they had 7 children. Robert emigrated to Indiana in 1840 and practiced medicine in Carroll, Case, and White Counties. He died on April 16, 1893. His daughter, Elizabeth, was born on March 13, 1857 at Lockport, Indiana. She married Thaddeus Guthrie (1831-1910) and they had 6 children. She died on June 25, 1938. Her son, Lehre (Lahrie) was born April 13, 1885 at Delphi, Indiana. He married Pearl Stuart Guthrie (1887-1919) and they had 3 children. He died June 18, 1961. His daughter, Mary, was born December 19, 1913 in Carroll County, Indiana. She married Floyd Sprinkle (1918-1944) and after his death in WWII, she married Robert A. Ferrier (1912-2003) with whom she had 2 children. Mrs. Ferrier was a member of the Daughters of the Revolution (DAR). She died on February 3, 1980.
