Scope and Contents
This collection is mostly hand-written letters in German. Augusta Sophia Eisenlohr's passport, issued in 1853, is in English. She was married to Gottlieb. The letters are from family members in Germany and Switzerland, as well as ones written by Gottlieb during the Civil War. He mustered into the 32nd (or First German) Regiment at Indianapolis on September 18, 1861, when he was 43 years old. Mr. Weigle served in Company C, and was discharged on September 7, 1864.

Biographical Note
Gottleib Weigle was born about 1818 in Wurttemberg, Germany. His wife was Augusta Sophia Eisenlorh Weigle. Her passport was given at Lorrach, Grand Duchy of Baden, on August 10, 1853, when she was 31 years old.
