Biographical Note

Thomas Scattergood Teas was born to Rachel and John Teas, immigrants from Ireland, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 28, 1794. He married Sarah C. Stratton. In 1850, they lived in Greensboro, Henry County, Indiana, with Sarah's mother, Eunice Dallas Stratton and their five children: Edward, John, Martha, Eunice, and Thomas. Teas was a skilled cabinet maker and mill wright. He died October 31, 1850 and was buried in Spiceland Friends Cemetery.
