This collection comprises a transcription of an account book from Gibson Teas in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana rainging from 1853 to 1856, regarding the activities and correspondence of his business of broom and wood tool manufacturing. The account book was transcribed by R. A. Stubbs of Long Lake, Minnesota.

Biographical Note

Gibson Teas was born to Charles and Mary (Gibson) Teas in 1809 in New Castle County, Delaware. He married his first wife Rebecca in 1832 in Indiana. He later married his second wife, Diadama, who had lost two previous husbands. Teas lived in Wayne County, Indiana and manufactured brooms and wood tools. In 1856, he moved to Minnesota in the Quaker Colony that settled in West Hennepin County. Teas continued his broom and wood tool manufacturing in Minnesota, where he died in 1892.
