This collection comprises papers including contracts, bills, letters, and receipts from the Stilson family in Bedford, Indiana ranging from 1873 to 1908 regarding the building of the family home and the medical practice of Doctors Joseph O. Stilson and Joseph Stilson, Blanche Stilson's father and grandfather, respectively. Of particular interest is a small notebook from 1873 to 1874 listing medical cases handled by the two physicians.

Biographical Note
Blanche Stillson was born on June 6, 1889 to Dr. Joseph O. and Matilda Rose (Bisch) Stillson. She attended Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Blanche Stillson was an artist and taught at Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana. In the 1930s, she lived at 4245 North Meridian Street in Indianapolis with her mother. Blanche Stillson died on January 4, 1977.
Joseph O. Stillson was a medical doctor who practiced in Bedford, Indiana with his father, Dr. Joseph Stillson during the late 1800s. He attended Hanover College in his youth before joining his father's practice. He married Matilda R. Bisch on October 27, 1880. The family moved to Indianapolis during the early 20th century. Dr. Joseph O. Stillson died in May 1926 and was buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
