Historical Note

The Spanish-American War began on April 25, 1898 when the United States declared war on Spain. It ended on December 10, 1898 and resulted in Spain losing control of the Philippines, Guam, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and other islands. Indiana was required to provide four infantry regiments (157th-160th) and two light artillery batteries.
