Biographical Note

Jacob K. Smith was born in 1836 in Lawrence County, Indiana. He was a member of the Iowa Infantry Volunteers Division during the Civil War from from 1862-1865. Before serving, he was a farmer in Mitchell, Indiana. Jacob K. Smith died in 1904 in Lawrence County where is buried in a family cemetery.
