Historical Note
The Indianapolis Civil War Round Table was organized in 1955 as a group of amateur enthusiasts and professional historians interested in Civil War history, and is one of the oldest Civil War Round Tables in the United States. Monthly meetings were held from September through June, with a banquet meeting in June. They sponsored annual trips to Civil War battlefields and sites, led by tour directors and members Harry Smith and Nikki Schofield during the 200s. At one time, the club also held Saturday morning breakfast meetings with a shortened program. The group contributes to the preservation of Civil War monuments and sites relating to Indiana soldiers.
