This collection includes a postcard from the American Poetry Association, Inc., postmarked June 5, 1938, and sent to Miss Betty Wariner of Indianapolis, Indiana regarding the publication of Roberta June Wills's first volume of poetry, Sea Shells. The collection also includes a photograph of Roberta June Wills (undated) and a handwritten copy of the poem "I Love My Old Clock", possibly written by Ms. Wills (undated).

Biographical Note

Robert June Wills was born on June 14, 1913 in Boone County, Indiana to Hallie A. and Nora P. Wills. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1931, earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State University, and received her M.S. in library science from Syracuse University. Wills was a school librarian in South Bend (1943-1944), Fairmont (1944-1948), and Connersville (1948-1952), Indiana before moving to the college level. She worked as a librarian at Bradley University (1952-1954), the University of Wichita (1954-1957), and Alma College (1957-1962), and then became an associate professor and chair of the department of library education at Mansfield State College in Pennsylvania (1962-1975). Wills was the author of Sea Shells, a volume of poetry published in 1938, and her poetry also appeared in several anthologies and journals. She returned to Indiana in 1984 and lived in Lebanon until her death at the age of 84 on December 18, 1997.
