This collection includes handwritten letters and envelopes from family members of William Shaw and wife, Linda Rous in Scotland and England ranging from 1827-1874 regarding family and life. Also included is one newspaper clipping and a copy of newspaper clipping written by Archibald Shaw.

Biographical Note

William Shaw was born in 1802 in Scotland and died in 1873 in Indiana. He emigrated from Paisley Renfrewshire, Scotland to Switzerland, Indiana in 1817. It was there that he met his wife, Linda Rous, married in 1825 and had 13 children together. They each received letters from family members during their stay, mostly from cousins, about life and health.
