Biographical Note
Catlett Toliver Shaw was born in 1826 in Bracken County, Kentucky. Records indicate he enrolled as a farmer on 29 February 1864 at Ripley County, Indiana, and served as a private in the 123 Indiana Regiment, Company G. In March 1865, at the Battle of Wyse Forks, North Carolina, he contracted disease from exposure to cold, and returned to Indiana.
He married Martha J. Wooley in Ripley County, Indiana, in 1848. He died in 1898, and is buried in Ripley County, Indiana.
