Historical Note

The collection includes a copy of the “Autobiography of Jane Ivison Scott (Mrs. Chauncey Scott)”. The collection consists of 17 pages, including a cover page and two pages of notes. The manuscript chronicles the Ivison family’s residence in Paisley, Scotland, in 1808, their move several years later to Glasgow, Scotland, their immigration to the United States in 1818, and their move westward over a span of several years, including Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Portland and Attica, Indiana, and Detroit.
