Robinson and Branham families collection
Collection — Folder: S1128
Identifier: S1128
Scope and Contents
This collection includes twenty-three letters and documents of the Robinson and Branham families of Madison, Indiana, beginning with a list of purchases and costs in 1839, and ending with a funeral notice dated 1891. Two letters are undated but were written during the Civil War. A third undated letter was addressed to Miss Rebecca G. Robinson in Dayton, Alabama, after Mobile was crossed off. One of the documents is for the discharge for William H. Robinson who was in the 10th Regiment of Indiana Cavalry. His discharge was on August 10, 1865, at Goodman, Mississippi, by reason of disability. The certificate states that he is 18 years of age. In 1868 and 1869, there are two letters from New York hotels to Mrs. E. (Edward) J. Robinson, from her brother, whose last name is Branham. He mentions their sister Juliann.
Among the Branhams in this collection of letters are: McClure and his wife Francis; Jennings, a Civil War soldier; and a married couple, Mary and John.
There is a printed funeral notice for Marinda Campbell, born August 7, 1817; died April 5, 1891; buried at Beech Lawn Cemetery, Bedford, Indiana. A funeral invitation printed on fabric is for Lucretia, only daughter of Colonel C. P. J. Arion, at the residence on Mulbery Street.
