Scope and Contents

Two handwritten pages are diary entries from April 7, 8, and 9, 1873 about meetings of men in favor of a Circle Railroad. The parties met at the Indiana and Illinois Central Railroad office, in Indianapolis, to organize and build the Circle Railroad, Mr. Richardson wrote: "After talking over the matter it was suggested that members present should name several parties, good men, to become Incorporators, and to take stock, and there was about fifty named." The Board elected H. C. Lord, President, and J. H. Farquhar, Treasurer and Secretary. J. R. Richardson wrote: "This is what I have been trying to accomplish for the last 8 months."
