 Collection — Folder: S1107
Identifier: S1107

Scope and Contents

Dr. H. E. Rendel of Mexico, Indiana, typed this six-page document in January 1965. He took the information from the large wall map of Miami County, Indiana, designed by McClellan and Warner, Waterloo, Indiana. The historical sketch was preprated by Rev. Francis S. McCabe in December 1865. On January 2, 1834, the Indiana Legislature passed a law which organized Miami County. The document lists the first officers, court sessions, taverns, stores, and newspapers. The first settled part of the county was north of the Wabash River. The Peru Bridge Company was incorporated on January 31, 1842. Railroads, churches, and preachers were noted. The county officers, including township trustees, are listed at the end.
