Mary Ramier collection

 Collection — Folder: S1095
Identifier: S1095

Scope and Contents

This collection includes photocopies of documents and typed translations. Asbury Allegre wrote to his brother, Lorenzo Allegre in Fayette County, Ohio, on May 20, 1848, telling about his new son, Eberle Munroe. He says they have two stores in Albany, and expect a new railroad from Indianapolis to Belle Fountain, Ohio.

The small notebook was kept by John William Kern of Amity Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, in 1839. In 1955, Lela Kern Richmann, granddaughter of William I. Kern, traced over the pencil with ink. It appears to be a lesson book, listing towns by the state, state capitals, the alphabet, and sums for purchases. Virginia A. Clover married Isaac Kern on March 22, 1838 in Ross County, Ohio, by Rev. William Chestnut. Births listed are: Virginia Clover Kern, January 4, 1818; Isaac Kern, Nov. 10, 1808; William I. Kern, Jan. 20, 1839; Sarah J. Dunn, Sept. 20, 1852; and Jennie C. Kern, Feb. 9, 1867.
